Power Tips for Gmail Users

There are many e-mail service providers but most users prefer Gmail. It is all about the simplistic design and the UI that captures the attention of a user. No matter what your purpose is, personal or professional, you should know how to best use an e-mail service that keeps you ahead of others. Additionally, keeping in touch with your contacts, organizing your e-mail messages and sorting your messages is essential. For this purpose, you need to apply some power tips to your Gmail account.

Let us have a look at 5 such power tips for Gmail users.

Creating Calendar Events

Using Gmail is the most efficient way for scheduling meetings and coordination. All this is possible in the Calendar. It is simple and easy to use. You can easily add events to your calendar by going to Add to Calendar option. Hover your mouse over the dates and time mentioned to obtain the follow up of the event. You will also have a follow up link that you can trace back to the e-mail for easy reference. This feature is new and Google is yet to launch it globally along with additional languages.

Changing Background Themes

In November last year, Gmail launched HD themes. These themes enable personalization of the background. For customizing the background of your e-mail, first click the Gear icon located at the top right hand corner of the screen window. Themes-> scroll down to Custom Themes-> light or dark. Move to the next page to upload pictures from My Photos that are already added in your Google+ account. You can even add pictures from your Android phone album or from a URL for additional pictures.

Google Drive

Sending files through e-mail attachments is the most convenient option. However, often the file size is too large to be attached with your e-mail message. Google Drive helps you in sending large sized files. You are given the choice of adding up to 10GB of file size or add files that are equal to 10GB size.

Using Google Drive is easy. Just click the icon of Google Drive and select the file that you want to attach or send. Gmail will ensure that your recipients have access to the files attached. If they do not have access then you will receive an alert message to change the settings. The biggest advantage that you get here is to adjust the settings without leaving your Gmail account.

You can also post the URL of the file to your Google Drive file in the message body of your e-mail. This way all your Gmail recipients will be able to access it.

Advance Search Option

When your inbox is cluttered with many e-mail messages then it becomes difficult to search. Searching becomes a task within itself especially when you receive e-mails in bulk. However, with Gmail the searching task is made easy by the advance search query option. You will be able to quickly find whatever you are looking for. You have the option to utilize filters that enable searching through file size and with the time when the e-mail was sent. You can also filter with the year in which you sent or received the message.

Creating Multiple Inboxes

Gmail gives you the option of creating Multiple Inboxes that allows you in organizing your e-mails. This also helps you in fetching your e-mails from other accounts. You can create labels, drafts, starred messages and other search filters. By applying a few simple steps you will be able to enable this feature, Gear icon->Labs-> Add multiple inboxes-> Enable-> Save. Now whenever you return to Gmail, your page will be refreshed. You will be able to see the changes that you have applied along with starred items, inboxes all in one place.

You are allowed to customize inboxes individually by selecting the Multiple Inboxes tab. You have the freedom to choose 5 panes that can be added in the primary inbox view. You can adjust the settings based on a number of conversations that you want to in your inbox. You can then choose to adjust conversations and position them in the panes accordingly.
