If you want a Lenovo machine that brings more than speed, Lenovo ThinkPad X230 has renovated its original keyboard and is using wider spaced keys in an “island style” layout. This makes keyboarding easier and faster; without the mistakes that you usually make when typing on a laptop.
This ThinkPad is equipped with a 300-nit IPS monitor and a battery that is guaranteed to run for up to nine hours of routine computing. Add to the laptop a state of the art Core i5-3320M CPU and you will be very happy with this machine. At $1249 is it a good deal?
With Lenovo’s superior customer service and reputation you will find that Lenovo knows exactly what consumers want. When the lid is shut the X230 looks a bit like last year’s model and every other ThinkPad that has been designed, but this year’s X230 weighs only 2.96 pounds and is much thinner than last year’s model.
When you open up this little beauty you will find that there is still a fingerprint reader on the right edge of the touchpad, which adds a level of security, plus there are two USB 3.0 ports and a mini-Display Port, a VGA and a wireless radio switch. Add a lock slot another USB 2.0 port plus an Ethernet connection and headphone jack.
Need more security and safety? Lenovo adds the technology of “airbag protection” to guard the hard drive just in case you drop your ThinkPad. Is there an AC port? Yes, it is on the back of the machine allowing for discrete cable management.
Yet, the best feature of the Lenovo ThinkPad X230 is the revamped keyboard. Some of you who are old-school might be a little taken back, but these keys have 30 percent more surface area and the spaces is up to five times greater. There is a curved lower edge to the keys and they are slightly indented to cradle your fingertips. Up and down page buttons are slightly larger and are grouped with the arrow keys and not around the backspace button. Backlighting capabilities are installed in this ThinkPad which makes using the ThinkPad great in dark areas.
An awesome feature and one that you will wish you had in all your computers is the matte finish to the screen that helps avoid glare no matter where you work. In addition, the IPS panel ensures that the colors on the screen don’t washout when you adjust the angle.
