Which one should I get? Have you ever asked yourself that question? Well if you are like most people, all these gadgets can look the same after awhile, so deciding which one is best can be a mixed bag.
Each is getting more powerful as time goes on, each is getting slimmer and more portable as time goes on, so maybe they’ll be all the same as time goes on right? Well maybe, but for right now, choosing the right device doesn’t have to be that difficult, as long as you know what each device is designed to do, making the right decision would have just gotten easier, much easier.
The first thing to understand is that we all do one of three things when we use either a tablet, Ultrabook, or Laptop to engage the digital world:
1. Consume media
2. Create media
3. Some combination of both consumption and creation of media.
Consumption of media involves looking at pictures, and movies, reading emails, and surfing the web, that sort of stuff. Creation of media involves writing emails, writing stories, editing videos, making photo albums, doing computer programming, etc. A combination of the two would obviously involve some aspects of both consumption and creation.
If you are someone who just wants a device to read emails, surf the web, read the newspaper or a magazine, then that means all you want to do is consume media. This would make a tablet perfect for you. If you are someone who wants or needs to write documents, create spreadsheets, edit some video, work on your photo album, and things like that, then you are someone who wants to create media, so a laptop would be perfect for you.
Now the hybrid category of both consumption and creation of media is where Ultrabooks come in handy. They have the functionality of a laptop, but the portability of a tablet, so depending on how much creation verses consumption of media you want to do, an Ultrabook would be perfect for such a person.
If you are however, someone that has the cash to burn, you might consider getting all three. This way whatever situation you find yourself in, you would have the right tool to take with you. But if you are like most of us whose money must be spent wisely due to its limits, then you will have to decide what it is you want to do before you make that purchase.
Remember we all do one of those three things when it comes to the digital world, no matter what, so as long as you keep that in mind you will no longer have to say “Tablets, Ultrabooks, and Laptops, Oh My.”
